Community Involvement with Rhonda Kelly

With offices in Elmsdale, Truro and now Pictou, Caldwell Roach Insurance staff are working in these communities and the surrounding areas to continually improve the neighbourhoods they live in. Almost 40 Caldwell Roach employees are living and working throughout Nova Scotia.

Rhonda Kelly, Operations Manager for Personal Lines Insurance at Caldwell Roach is a long time resident of Milford, Nova Scotia. "When my kids were young, we were on the go in the community every night," says Rhonda. "I love the community of Milford and am proud that there are so many activities available for our families." She believes that to make a community great, you must play a role in community development.

One important organization Rhonda has been involved with is the Milford Recreation Association. "I have been working with the Milford Recreation Association since 2003," says Rhonda. It is a multi-use sport and recreation facility with a ball field, soccer field, a network of hiking trails, a pond stocked with fish, a skateboard park, and tennis courts.

"It's a great facility in our area - a real community hub," says Rhonda. She used to manage the tennis club and coordinate recreation activities. The business and organizational skills Rhonda honed at Caldwell Roach are put to good use in her volunteer role at the Association. She provides guidance on insurance related issues and works with a team of volunteers to help make decisions on the direction of the Association. "I want to make sure the facilities continue to operate in our community," she explains. "We couldn't re-create it in today's day and age and I want all of the services we offer to be here in the future for our kids."

Many Caldwell Roach customers use the facilities in Milford and Rhonda enjoys seeing them outside the office. During the workday Rhonda splits her time between the Elmsdale and Truro offices, and has also been involved in the recent set up of Caldwell Roach Insurance's new office located on Faulkland Street in Pictou, Nova Scotia. "I am so excited that we have expanded to provide home, auto and commercial insurance to people living in the Pictou area. Having our staff living in the neighbourhoods where they work helps build strong community connections," she said.

As Operations Manager, Rhonda works closely with the staff throughout the three offices to make sure that processes are streamlined such that each customer receives a high level of service. She says, "a lot of our customers know us personally and have come to expect a certain level of service when they deal with us."
