Summer Travel Tips with Breanna Macleod

It’s summer in Nova Scotia! That means a great number of people will be packing their bags and heading out of town on vacation. While we usually talk about travel insurance in the winter, it is still important to have coverage in place for your summer travels.

Breanna Macleod, a broker in our Elmsdale office joined Caldwell Roach in March 2016 after working as a claims adjuster for a large insurance company. “Summer travel is no different that travelling any other time of the year. We suggest you have the proper coverage in place so that you can enjoy your trip without worry,” said Breanna. “In fact, if you travel several times throughout the year, it might make sense to purchase a multi-trip plan.”

• Booking Flights – book your travel as soon as you can. It’s a very busy time to travel and with flexibility in travel dates you can help keep your flight costs low.
• Airport Delays - allow yourself lots of time at the airport for check in and security clearances. Just recently, WestJet and Air Canada have announced that due to increased security screening, passengers travelling to the United States should arrived at the airport 2 full hours prior to takeoff.
• Keeping valuables safe – in many countries pick pockets frequent tourist destinations. Be sure to keep your valuables zipped in interior pockets of purses and knapsacks.
• Reserve ahead of time – when possible, book your hotel accommodations and restaurant reservations before you leave on vacation. Things book up quickly!
